Denise Brosseau has a
portfolio career as a thought
leadership strategist, speaker, business advisor, facilitator, trainer and
author. She has dedicated her career to advancing women leaders and
moving change forward around issues that matter.
Denise is the CEO of Thought Leadership Lab, a boutique professional services firm which specializes in building leaders into thought leaders -- increasing their 'discoverability,' amplifying their social influence and catalyzing strategic connections that lead to a seat at the table for the conversations that matter. She is the author of Ready to Be a Thought Leader?
, published by Wiley (Jossey-Bass) in January 2014.
At Thought Leadership Lab, Denise consults with social entrepreneurs, start-up CEOs and executives at Fortune 500 companies like Medtronic, Agilent and Bank of America. Her focus is around building her client’s personal platform and leadership effectiveness so they can effect social and organizational change.
Denise has also developed and led women's leadership programs for Liberty Global, Nimble Storage, Gracenote, Women's President's Organization and KPMG. Her work with KPMG has spanned eight years and measurably impacted their retention of early career women leaders.
Denise has spoken before tens of thousands of people worldwide, at companies like Roche, Microsoft and Intel; leadership conferences, including the Indiana Governor's Conference and the Grace Hopper Conference for Women in Computing; and organizations like Coro and the Association of California Nurse Leaders. She has also guest lectured at Wellesley, Berkeley, Princeton and Stanford Business School.
As part of her work with organizations, Denise frequently serves as a master facilitator, leading strategy sessions, retreats, Compression Planning sessions, Innovation Games and thought leadership development sessions. Her recent clients include the Packard Foundation, Vermillion, the California Community College Chancellor’s Office, Barstow College, Planned Parenthood, PG&E and the Women’s Startup Lab.
In May 2014, Denise was honored by the Silicon Valley Business Journal as among their Top 100 Women of Influence
. In 2012, she was recognized as a Champion of Change
by the White House and honored with a Forever Green Award
by the Girl Scouts. She was also recognized as one of six Women Who Have Made Their Mark
by Watermark. In 2013, she received the Stanford STARS Award
for her volunteer work encouraging entrepreneurship among women students at Stanford Business School.
A Wellesley graduate with a Stanford MBA, Denise began her career in the technology industry at companies like Motorola and Broderbund Software. She was the founding CEO of the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs (FWE). She grew FWE (now Watermark
) into the country’s leading organization for women-led start-ups. In 1999, she co-founded Springboard
, the prestigious women’s startup launch pad that has led to over $6 billion in funding for women entrepreneurs. She also co-founded and served as President of Invent Your Future Enterprises and co-created the Invent Your Future Conference that is now in its 8th year. Denise’s expertise has been featured in major media outlets, including Inc.com, Salesforce.com and Monster.com, Fast Company and on NPR.

Denise is a member and past board member of the Northern California Chapter of the International Women's Forum
and member and past Chair of the Wellesley Business Leadership Council
. She recently served as Chair of the Advocates board of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte
and as a Board Member of 416 Holdings, a for profit company formed to increase the financial self-sufficiency of Planned Parenthood affiliates. She also serves on the advisory board of several start-ups including Kokko, Inc.
and as an advisor to NARAL Pro-Choice America
